Open TikTok Studio right now and I bet you’ll find at least eight LIVE campaigns running or about to start. Most creators scroll right past them. They see a leaderboard full of creators pulling millions of points and decide it isn’t for them. That’s a mistake, and this week’s town hall was all about why.
What a TikTok LIVE campaign actually is
TikTok calls them campaigns. You can call them events or competitions. They’re focused races, usually inside a niche, to get the most gifts, views, follows, or some other action in a set window of time. Creators who do well get rewards from TikTok: diamonds, promote coupons, profile frames, physical prizes, and visibility.
Campaigns are TikTok teaching you the app
If you want to succeed as a creator on any platform, you have to become a student of that platform. There’s no book. But TikTok will tell you how it works if you pay attention, and campaigns are one of the clearest ways it does that.
Think about it from TikTok’s side. TikTok makes money when creators make money, so a campaign gets built around the behavior that makes creators successful. When a campaign gives you points for setting live goals, streaming consistent hours, or completing your gift gallery, that’s TikTok showing you exactly what it wants to reward.
One example from the Gift Gallery campaign we walked through: gifts received during battles counted for double points. I don’t do battles much myself, and you don’t have to either. But understand what TikTok is telling you. Battles work, and if you skip them, you have to work twice as hard as everyone else.
A shared goal builds community
The oldest team-building tool there is: give a group a mutually shared objective. Sports teams use it, the military uses it, and every corporate team-building day uses some version of it. A campaign hands you that objective for free. You and your viewers get a leaderboard to climb and a goal to chase together. That’s how a room full of viewers starts to feel like a community.
You don’t have to win
This is the part most creators miss. Winning isn’t the point. Set achievable goals and say them out loud on your live:
- Complete today’s daily missions
- Get 10 new unique gifters — people who have never sent anything before (a single rose counts)
- Get your name on the leaderboard, even in last place
When you hit one, celebrate it. Screenshot it, post it, put it in your story. If you’re in 50th, chase 49th. If you get knocked off, rally your people to get back on. Small wins, one at a time.
How to find TikTok LIVE campaigns
- Open TikTok and tap your profile
- Tap the menu icon in the top right and open TikTok Studio
- Select LIVE, then scroll down to Campaigns
- Tap the small arrow at the top to see the full list
Joining costs nothing, so join every campaign that still says Join. Then, the next time you’d normally doom scroll, read the campaign pages instead: the weekly missions, the daily missions, the game rules, and how points are earned.
Divisions and starting early
Two things make campaigns far more winnable than they look. First, TikTok splits many campaigns into divisions, so you aren’t competing against the biggest creators on the app. Second, timing matters. Creators who read the rules and start pushing on day one can climb the leaderboard before everyone else catches on.
I recently ranked ninth in a campaign I had barely paid attention to. That finish came with a diamond reward, promote coupons, a profile frame, and an algorithm boost — just from being signed up and live.
The through-line
Sign up for every TikTok LIVE campaign you can find, read the rules, and chase small wins with your community. The app is teaching you how to succeed. Your job is to pay attention.
